A Fourth of July to Remember ✨

I celebrated a beautiful Independence Day with my daughter Zen, along with our friends and neighbors at this year's Flotilla in Lake Peekskill. It was a joyful, heartwarming day — a true reminder of what makes this community so special.

I’m always humbled by those who truly dedicate their lives to public service — and I was honored to stand alongside many who do just that everyday.

But the most powerful moment of the day came in an unexpected way — when someone’s life was saved at the beach.

It was extraordinary to witness. A community member, Mike Farrell saw what was happening and sprang into action. Lifeguards and first responders acted swiftly and professionally, with precision and care. Everyone moved together seamlessly, without hesitation. It was a moment that revealed the best of who we are — neighbors looking out for each other, stepping up, and showing courage and compassion when it mattered most.

I left the day feeling incredibly proud to be a part of this community. In a time when the world can feel divided, Lake Peekskill reminded me that connection, humanity, and the will to help one another are still very much alive.

This Fourth of July wasn’t just a celebration — it was a reflection of the strength and heart of Putnam Valley.
